About me...
I have a ravenous appetite for art and all things beautiful.
My obsession with beauty translates into passionate photography and into developing meaningful relationships with models, clients, other photographers and anyone else who I bring into my world of color, light and shadow. I love teaching people how to express themselves in front of the camera, and, I deeply enjoy teaching photographers how to relate to their clients, and how to work the magic of light to make their photos stunning! I consult with models and I teach photographers 1-on-1 in weekend and full day intensive instruction.
My background...
I have traveled into fairly remote regions of the world... finding beauty everywhere... among people, within nature... as far away as the moon (in my poetry) and as deep as the Hawaiian oceans. I studied at The Sorbonne in Paris; at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England... lived in California, Hawaii, Atlanta and on the top of a remote mountain in North Carolina. But, all my travels have brought me right back here... to northern Florida, where I pursue my art with a desire to create beauty in everything I do.
Work History...
I was a model when I was a teenager, and then again in my late 30s. my experience modeling helps me know how to work with people who are new to being in front of the camera, and it gives me a lot of insight in the industry.
For 20 years I owned an advertising agency, putting together teams of graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, web site designers, etc. Aside from doing the marketing writing and managing the projects, I was the art director... always studying balance and ratios in our design work and marketing materials.
My background in marketing and art direction set me up for a career as a photographer and artist because photos are always selling something. Your business portrait is selling you to peers, customers and potential employers. Your product photography is selling your product and an artistic still life is selling an idea or point of view. So, I feel like my whole life has been preparing me to be a photographer. From my interest in the beauty of nature as a small child to my study of ceramic sculpture and charcoal drawing to my short career as a jewelry designer to my long career in advertising and communication materials... to my favorite moment of all: taking photos with people like you. Give me a call and we'll set up a photo session. It's always a fun, rewarding, and even, therapeutic, experience! Why not call me now? 904 382 7559.
